About Grass Act
Grass Act has specialized in landscape and irrigation systems design and installation in the Austin area since 1994.
Grass Act and its President, Gary Salas, have developed innovative products for the irrigation industry – the GroundTopper and GroundTopper Too! – universal replacement valve box covers. They are simple, durable, and inexpensive items that are the solution to the continuing problem of finding a replacement for the often lost or damaged valve box lid, of which there are an array of different types and sizes.
The company prides itself on quality work as well as the preservation of natural resources and a commitment to the community. Over the years, the company has contributed to several community charities, including the Children’s Hospital of Austin, the American Heart Association and KLRU/Austin Public Television.

About Gary Salas – President, Grass Act
President of Grass Act, Gary Salas created the company in Austin, Texas in 1994, primarily as a lawn maintenance business. He has successfully expanded Grass Act over the past 17 years, growing and adapting with the products and service requirements of the landscaping and irrigation industries, both locally and nationally.
Salas has been a leader in the industry and the community, serving on business-related association boards and participating in activities affecting industry issues, regulations and trends. He is a Licensed Irrigator and is Backflow (BPAT) Certified.
He has served as Vice-President and President of the Austin Lawn Sprinkler Association (ALSA) as well as Education Officer of the Texas Turf Irrigation Association (TTIA). He has been active in the Political Action Committees for both associations and has successfully lobbied before the Texas State Legislature in the interests of the associations, the industry, and for water protection.
Salas is a U.S. Navy veteran and an honors graduate of Eastern New Mexico University. He holds a BBA in Business Administration and an AAS in Computer Information Systems. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Delta Mu Delta Honor Societies. While attending college, Salas also became a licensed New Mexico Real Estate Agent, participating in both sales and property management.
